Mission
The Vanguard Independent Democratic Association, Inc. as known as VIDA is an organization of active and involved citizens from diverse backgrounds all joining together, sharing a common concern and working to build a better community for today and for the future.
Philosophy
Our core philosophy is “Community Engagement”, which is sincere emphasis on community progress and advancement: promoting the interest of the many, as opposed to the few.
Purpose
Our purpose for existing is outline in 5 main points:
- Developing maximum community participation in the political process through voter registration and political education.
- Developing maximum community inputs in policy making and decision making that affects our community.
- Developing and supporting political representation that is of, by, and for the community.
- Developing community control of elected officials and local institutions to insure that they are responsive to the needs of the community, and
- Organizing the community to gain and exercise power so that it will receive its fair share of goods and services.
